On-premise call center software in Ethiopia
Many companies want their calls, recordings and call history on a server they control. Halo is on-premise call center software: it runs on a server for your company alone, yours or one from Skynet, and keeps that data on it.
On-premise
Why your own server
Because your call data stays on a server for your company alone. Calls, recordings and history are kept on it, with encrypted nightly backups on a second server in Ethiopia. The backups are append-only, and a weekly automatic test restores the database to check that they work.
Call history stays in Halo’s own database on your server, and v1 does not delete call records automatically. Recordings are kept for the number of days you set, and the call history stays even after a recording’s time is up. Telegram alerts show masked numbers only, so full customer numbers do not appear in alert messages.

Your Halo server
What runs where
Halo runs on one server for your company alone, yours or one from Skynet. It holds the Asterisk call engine, the Halo web app, call recordings and the call history database. Agents and supervisors use Halo in the browser over your network, with call audio relayed through the server and a fallback over port 443. Ethio Telecom's SIP trunk reaches the server over a private link. Every night an encrypted backup goes to a second server in Ethiopia.
The Halo server sits at the centre. Your Ethio Telecom SIP trunk reaches it over a private link from Ethio Telecom, which Skynet arranges and tests during setup. Agents reach Halo from their browsers over the network, and call audio is relayed through the Halo server, so no desk phones are needed.
Agents need a working connection to the Halo server.

Your own server or one from Skynet. If you already run servers, Halo can be installed on one of yours that meets the starting size. If not, Skynet can provide one. Either way, Skynet installs Halo, sets up the licence and the backups, connects your Ethio Telecom SIP line and trains your team in Addis Ababa.

Licence server unreachable
If the licence server cannot be reached, Halo keeps working normally for 30 days. Even with a licence problem, inbound and agent calls keep working; settings, exports and new automatic calls lock until it is fixed.

Questions about on-premise call center software
What happens if the internet goes down?
Agents reach Halo over the network, so they need a working connection to the Halo server. The Ethio Telecom trunk reaches the server over its own private link.
Who keeps the server up to date?
Skynet. The yearly licence includes all updates and Skynet support Mon-Sat 08:00-18:00 by phone, Telegram and email, with remote fixes. You do not have to follow Halo releases yourself.
How do we know the backups work?
Every week Halo runs an automatic restore test of the database from the backups. The backups themselves are encrypted, made every night, append-only and kept on a second server in Ethiopia. Read more on the security page.
Can Halo run on a server we already have?
Yes, if it meets the starting size: 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and a 500 GB SSD, running Debian 13. Skynet sizes larger teams. If you do not have a suitable server, Skynet can provide one, and Halo runs on it in the same way.
What happens if the licence server cannot be reached?
Halo keeps working normally for 30 days. Even with a licence problem, inbound and agent calls keep working; settings, exports and new automatic calls lock until it is fixed.
